What is Vitamin B12?
Vitamin B12 is an essential building block of our body and brain.
Vitamin B12 is only found in natural animal foods. This why you are very likely deficient in vitamin B12 if you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet and are not currently taking any other B12 supplements.
It is absorbed into the blood by binding to a protein produced in the body called intrinsic factor.
If your body does not produce enough intrinsic factor you may also be vitamin B12 deficient despite a diet with adequate B12 comsumption.
The ability to absorb vitamin B12 can also reduce as we age, and through gut-related diseases such as Crohn’s and celiac disease.
Vitamin B12 can be stored in the liver for a long time, so a dificiency can take a few years to reveal itself.
It is vital in the production of DNA and red blood cells, as well as regulating brain function and so a deficiency can have serious consequences including; poor brain function, low energy levels, bad sleeping patterns and a general lack of “get-up-and-go”.
Our injections give your body the boost it needs to restore your energy levels and brain function when a vitamin B12 deficiency is a cause.

Booking A Vitamin B12 Injection Appointment
Before we go ahead with any vitamin B12 injections, we will sit down with you for a consultation.
This is to check you are eligible and are likely to benefit from the treatment.
If we agree that vitamin B12 injections are right for you, we can carry out the treatment right there and then.
It will involve a small injection of a red liquid into a muscle, usually at the top of your arm in your intra-muscular area of the deltoid, or in the buttocks.
While you will almost certainly feel the benefit of your first injection, it is recommended that you have more than just the one injection to get the full benefits and keep your vitamin B12 at optimum levels.
Our usual recommendation is to start with a series of three injections per week for the first two weeks, followed by a monthly booster.
This is to firstly build and restore your vitamin B12 levels and then maintain them.
